- Approve Minutes of November 7, 2013
The commission approved the minutes of November 7, 2013.
New Business
Members discussed all that was accomplished by the commission in 2013.
Tom will write this up and submit it to the town hall. Members agreed to submit the photo showing the third graders’ art work displayed at Earth Day for the annual report.
Linda and Tom shared news of the upcoming environmental forums organized by the FCCOL Environment Committee that will be held between church services and will be open to the public. A listing is available on the FCCOL website.
Ongoing Business
Members continue to see examples of low interest in the environmental issues here in town. Lauralyn mentioned the low numbers following the LOLHS Environmental Club’s Facebook page. The townspeople’s lack of attention to Rogers Lake (main aquifer that feeds many wells in town) prompted Tom to share the noticeable absence of a sign of pride for the rowing team at LOLHS.
Rogers Lake
Lauralyn updated members on the joint meeting of the Lyme and Old Lyme Selectmen and the Rogers Lake Authority held on November 18. A committee was formed to look at various options available to address the invasive weeds at the lake. George and Sue attended that meeting with Lauralyn.
Commission members discussed questions that need to be answered by the formed
lake committee before a final decision is presented to the towns.
The meeting adjourned at 9:12 pm.
Lauralyn Lewis, Secretary
